Track: ROWDIEZ -悪漢奴等 Wanted Vibes- [Akan Yatsura]
[MV Link (Short)]
Be forewarned, this one has a lot of footnotes.
Wanted Vibes?
We'll give you hell!!
What we’ve borrowed, we’ll take back double in one shot!
Wanted Vibes?
We got your back
So come follow u-u-u-u-us!
You bros listening to this track right now, you the 6th member of Akan Yatsura!
For real, I'm real grateful to ya
But it’s not enough, give me more, put your hands up!
What keeps me going strong is my Family, and then my Fans, ain’t nothing but that!
Gimme your backup, I’ll take it on, and we’ll send the trash packing!
Put your bet on us, all you heads[1]
Gather round us, all you bad bastards[2] (Ah yeah!)
We’ll exchange sake cups to this music
Now you’re bound to our oath so clap your hands[3] (Ah yeah!)
Put your bet on us, all you heads
What you give, manifold we’ll pay back (Ah yeah!)
We’ll leave you speechless with our overkill
So put your faith in us and clap your hands
Welcome one and welcome all,
Come right up and see it all!
Our petals gathered in a single ring, at the end your applause will sing
The more sweat and shame I shed, the more my power
The more you troubles, we’ll give you blooming flowers
(Akan Yatsura!)
No matter what the calendar say, every day is a festival day!
Wanted Vibes?
We'll give you hell!!
What we’ve borrowed, we’ll take back double in one shot!
Wanted Vibes?
We got your back
So come follow u-u-u-u-us!
Watch out for the flames, cause we're sparking a whole festival from one mic!
Don't just sit on the ground, get up and join in
You make me happy
Soiya, c'mon soiya![4] Tonight this whole stage is our playground
We'll keep dancing till the break of dawn, so just leave it all to me
Put your bet on us, all you heads
Gather round us, all you bad bastards (Ah yeah!)
We’ll exchange sake cups to this music
Now you’re bound to our oath so clap your hands (Ah yeah!)
Put your bet on us, all you heads
What you give, manifold we’ll pay back (Ah yeah!)
We’ll leave you speechless with our overkill
So put your faith in us and clap your hands
Knocking over the earth and heavens, till the end we’ll do things respectfully
My Family who believed in me and you guys are my pride, so follow me
Time and time we’ll always say it again: What’s our number, brothers?[5]
(No. 1!!)
AKYR, you’ll never get bored, we’re the eye of the storm (Yes)
Wanted Vibes?
We'll give you hell!!
What we’ve borrowed, we’ll take back double in one shot!
Wanted Vibes?
We got your back
So come follow u-u-u-u-us!
Our five mics are now a vessel to summon divine wind
In this brawl, put it all on the line with a wild headbutt
You’ll never gain enlightenment with a lame-ass shrine like that
The ones who laugh last are sure to be the strongest baddies, Akan Yatsura!
(Bloodthirsty rowdiez are in the house!)
Even if we scatter with a bang, it’s just part of the festivities[6]
We’ve already set light to the fuse
Hop on for a ride on Akan Yatsura’s shrine!
Won’t pass the ball to anyone, till we reach enemy camp for touchdown
(Touchdown!!)
Bet all you’ve got and you still won’t lose
Hop on for a ride on Akan Yatsura’s shrine!
For all that we share, we’ll come back to collect
Who’s da best?
Wanted Vibes?
We'll give you hell!!
What we’ve borrowed, we’ll take back double in one shot!
Wanted Vibes?
We got your back
So come follow u-u-u-u-us!
[1] “Heads” is a term for fans of a group
[2] “Bad Bastards” is roughly the literal meaning of the group name “Akan Yatsura”
[3] Reference to the yakuza initiation ceremony of pledging your loyalty to the group by exchanging sake cups with your boss
[4] “Soiya” is a cheer word without meaning used in many traditional Japanese folk songs and dances, often performed at festivals
[5] The iconic Akan Yatsura call and response line that’s featured in many of their songs. The Japanese goes “Orera nanba nanban? (Nanba wan!)”, which is super catchy, and I am not good enough to capture its full charm in translation. I'm so sorry.
[6] (Oh my fucking god kashira stop this shit is untranslatable)
This entire verse is full of references to elements of traditional Shinto and Buddhist faith deeply entwined with festivals, which are usually run with significant yakuza involvement. Above, I chose to have a "plain English" version of the lyrics, but below, for those interested, is the fully annotated version. Enjoy.
[7] A yorishiro is an object that attracts kami and gives them a physical space to occupy during ceremonies. It doesn’t actually summon, and acts more like a vessel.
[8] This word isn’t inherently associated with the notorious WW2 fighter pilots, and instead refers to a “divine wind” from the gods that most noticeably came in the form of a huge typhoon that protected Japan from Mongolian invasion in the 13th century.
[9] Literally means a big fight or brawl, but contains the word matsuri for festival, haha.
[10] The word sutemi can mean to sacrifice or put your life on the line, but the same kanji can also be read as shashin, which is to renounce worldly desire and become a Buddhist priest.
[11] A mikoshi is a decorated portable shrine or palanquin used to transport the gods from the main temple to a festival venue. Often carried by yakuza members.
[12] To surpass human understanding is simply, to attain Buddhist enlightenment
[13] Bad Bastards is literally warui yatsura, which is Akan Yatsura just missing one of the kanji but with the same meaning
[14] hana, usually meaning flowers but with this kanji can also mean the splendor or brilliance of the festival
Be forewarned, this one has a lot of footnotes.
